I've only recently started playing bass but have been playing guitar for years, but seriously no one wants to here your opinion on how flea sucks. Why would you go on to a video to just dis the artist? And im not from America and I still think flea is one of the most talented and creative bass guitarists today. Also just like to point out there is NO best in music, its really just what sound ur into

thats how i play bass, i just picked it up when i first got my guitar, i didnt think it was a style. but i dont play as fast as flea can and i hold down some strings with my fret thumb, which people say isnt right but i cant not do it sometimes.

Apologies if my dissection of Flea's technique is rather too cutting for your delicate tastes!!!
But I say again-if you're going to judge his PLAYING-and seeing as how he's showing off his "technique" in a "how to" video-then I'm afraid that he's gonna get blown away on a technical level by HUNDREDS of other players around the world!
And I have to say,sadly-that i guessed you were American.You do tend to only ever see your own as being "the best" no matter what the subject may be.

he asked why they r so big....the answer is because they write great songs...thats what it comes down to
thats not even true to make it as big as them alot of it is luck being at the right place at the right time but im glad they are lucky cause they kick ass and there is no such thing as being better than some one at any given instrument unless your being compared to someone that has only been playing a couple years and there only at an intermediate level

flea is great and and his passion for music shows in live shows. that's why he is amazing.
What some of you guys don't get-'cos you're either very young or very blinkered..is that by doing these "how to" videos Flea sets himself up as an example of some kind of "technical" aspirational bass player which I can assure you he most certainly isn't.Average all the way.
Take Mark King from Level 42 for starters.Inspiring a generation of players 10 years before Flea,still light years ahead now-playing wickedly technical,grooving basslines,fronting the band AND holding down the lead vocal.
